Special Assembly-Dussehra Celebration

In our multicultural society we need to continuously reinforce the universal values of brotherhood, tolerance, peace, compassion, patriotism and solidarity in our children. A celebration in the form of special assemblies is an effort to sensitize students towards living in harmony in a diverse society. They are taught to learn to use their thinking ability and skills to work for a safe and better world and to live in harmony with their fellow beings.
Taking this thought forward a special assembly on Dussehra was conducted on Friday October 4, 2019. They say one can see God in children. True. But it becomes real when the festive season is on at RPS89. During this time, we start seeing children in attire of Gods and Goddesses all around the campus. And it is a real sight to behold!

To celebrate the victory of good over evil the students  enacted on excerpt from the ‘Ramayana’. The dialogues, costumes and the enactment was commendable. Children then preformed NavDurga dance which was accompanied by loud cheering by the audience. The main attraction was the large effigy of Ravana amidst cultural potpourri. The festive fever could be felt in every nook and corner of the school.

The school principal, Dr.Roopa Marwaha Bhalla  in her address appreciated the effort of the students and emphasized that this day is considered not only the victory of Ram over Ravana  but of virtue over vices. She further reiterated that the celebration of the festival every year is a reminder to overcome our weakness and become strong by indulging in self introspection. The assembly concluded with the rendition of national anthem.
